Library Cards

The Lighthouse Point Library (est. 1965) is a single branch, municipal (City) Library that predates the Broward County Library System. It is one of five municipally funded libraries in Broward which are independent of the County Library System.

The Lighthouse Point Library is supported by and serves the residents and business owners of the City of Lighthouse Point, Florida. Since the Library does not receive State Aid or County funding, cards issued by other libraries are not valid for use at the Lighthouse Point Library.

Lighthouse Point Library cards are free of charge for all City of Lighthouse Point residents, business owners, and their children. Proof of Lighthouse Point residency or a current business tax license are required. Library cards are issued in person at the Library during business hours.

Individuals who do not reside in the City of Lighthouse Point are welcome to join the Library for a membership fee of $50.00 per family (living at the same address), per year. A Lighthouse Point Library card in good standing gives patrons the ability to checkout materials, download eResources, register for programs, book a study room, print documents, and log-in to patron computers and WIFI.

The Lighthouse Point Library expects patrons to return all materials on or before the due date, to promptly pay any fines or damages for which they are responsible, and to give immediate notice of a change of address or telephone number. Patrons are responsible for any item that anyone checks out on their Library card. If a Library card is lost or stolen, report the loss at once by calling the Library or by coming to the Library during business hours.

Parents and legal guardians are responsible for deciding what Library materials are appropriate for their children and teenagers. The Library may contain materials that some parents find inappropriate for their own children and teenagers. The Library encourages parents to help their children select Library resources in keeping with their family’s values.
