In the fiscal year 2020-2021, over 100 individuals between the ages of 13 and 95 volunteered over 8,000 hours at the Lighthouse Point Library!
A volunteer is a person who performs tasks for the Lighthouse Point Library without wages, benefits, or compensation of any kind. Our volunteers include retirees, local business leaders, and students earning community service hours toward graduation (just to name a few). By supporting the paid staff, volunteers participate in multiple facets of the library including: Manning Circulation Desk – Instructing Adult Programs – Shelving Materials – Youth Programming Assistance – Book Sale Management – Shelf Reading – Website Support – Help at City Events – Special Projects – Serving on Library Boards (Teen, Advisory, and Friends) – And much, much more!
As a small token of our enormous thanks, each spring the library hosts an annual Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon (est. 1979) at which time the hard work and dedication of each volunteer is formally acknowledged by the City and Friends.
Attention students ages 13 to 17!
Do you love the library AND need service hours toward graduation? Then you have come to the right place! Teen volunteers help shelve materials, prepare for story times, set up book sales, and work with patrons of all ages. Teen volunteers who have successfully volunteered in the library may apply for the Library’s Teen Advisory Board (TAB). TAB members represent the library at events throughout the community events.
If you are interested in becoming volunteering please visit the library for a volunteer applications. There is a limited number of slots for each shift and a background check is required. The library is not able to participate in any court ordered or adjudicated volunteer programs.
