Remember after you finish that new bestseller; don’t let it sit, DONATE IT! Your thoughtfulness might just be tax deductible!Great News!!!!! Starting in 2020 the Friends will host an Annual Summer Reads Book Sale! To prepare for this new event they will NOT be hosting a November 2019 book sale. Please check back at the Library in early 2020 for more information on the Summer Reads Book Sale date.
The Friends accept up to THREE banker size boxes of the following materials (hardcover and paperback) in new and like new condition:
Adult Non-Fiction Books © 2021/2022 Only
Adult Fiction Books © Any Year
Children’s Fiction and Non-Fiction Books © Any Year
YA Fiction and Non-Fiction Books © Any Year
DVDs © Any Year
Audiobooks on CD © Any Year
Note Banker Boxes are 10″H x 12″W x 15″D.
Due to space limitations and safety issues, the Friends are NOT able to accept:
Adult Non-Fiction Books older than 2018
Cassette Tapes
Encyclopedias
VHS Tapes
Textbooks
Music CDs or Records
Magazines
Puzzles
Items with a musty, tobacco, and/or odd odor
Items in Disrepair.
1. Past and present charity partners include, The Boys and Girls Club, The Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, The Daughters of the American Revolution, Disabled Vietnam Veterans, Goodwill Industries, Hospice By The Sea, Kids in Distress, The Salvation Army, Women in Distress, Shoeboxes for Soldiers, local nursing homes and local schools. Items which are donated but do not meet the donation guidelines are responsibly recycled. 2. Each month a letter of appreciation is sent to individuals who sign the library’s donation log during the prior month. This letter of contribution may be useful for tax deduction purposes. Per IRS guidelines, the value of property that is given to qualified organizations is determined by the donor. 3. The Library is not able to take large loose donations of books or return boxes to donors. 4. Donations can only be made with a Library staff member or volunteer while the Library is open. Due to safely issues, donations that are left outside of the Library or in the return box must be discarded. Once items are donated to the Friends there is no way to return them to the donor. Please make absolutely sure that ALL OF THE ITEMS in the box/bag you are giving to the Friends/Library are items you wish to donate.
